I looked at your truffle when we got back from the Isle of Wight this afternoon.

I don't know what you were expecting but the hole in the base suggests Tuber excavatum, which is backed up by the spores and cells in the outer surface. 

I have attached a image of the spores at x1000 and the outer skin at x400.

This is not very common. Could you let me know where you (or Valentino?) found it?

You brought truffle in exchange for lobster. This pairing with salted  butter is exquisite.
