Yesterday hunt with Mario. Mario starts from Imola at 4,00 a.m. and take me in Reggio Emilia after one hour.
We are gone in mountain at 900 meters in a woods of oak and poplar. Arrived at 6,30 a.m., many fog and umidity. Mario down and me on top. I begin the climb, destination a place that no people knows (found from Filù) that sometime give me truffles. For this and because ground is very soaked I take Filù on my arms and I walk on the grass for don’t leave the impression of my feet.
Just in “pastura” Filù find first Pico of 20 gr.. I see that the dog has a good will in the search and goes with her nose sticked at the ground. After 2/3 minutes she stop and dig a hole. I go to my dog and I find the second Pico (about 10 gr.), very good smell. When I’m closing the hole involuntarily I see third Pico that Filù has not signaled to me. I take it, no smell. It is unripe. But I can’t leave a truffle of 55 gr!! Et voilà, it is in my pocket.
After this, we have changed other two place but Filù have found only one other truffle. Total 91 gr. of Pico.
Mario better fortune. He found 160 gr., about 7/8 holes. In one hole he found two junction truffles of total weight 90 gr. (67 gr. and 23 gr.).
Before start I thought found no truffle because is not a good season for Pico. But yesterday has been a not negative day.Probably Sunday I come back in the same place and I will say you the result.
